Mechanism of the action of the bioflavonoids :
The bioflavonoids become fixed to the walls of the capillaries around the eye.
Their actions are numerous, they:
- slow down the damage being done, and stabilize the collagen fibres of the capillary walls;
- possess an anti-enzymatic and anti-oxidant action, protecting the elastin (a protein of the conjunctive tissue);
- diminish hyperpermeability;
- have an effect on the fluidity of the blood and on venal insufficiency;increase capillary resistance;
- prevent the formation of oedema.
